ytd's session was deep.
i hope we keep those questions in mind.
"what is keeping us away from god?"
"which areas of our life do we need to reduce yourselves and for God to increase?"

we didn really talked a lot in the bigbig circle,
but the gals had a really open talk.
really glad we were there to support each other.
we found out that we are not alone, and we shudn be feeling all that alone!
the feelings/thoughts/doubts we may be guilty facing and hiding
were actually not isolated,
others feel the same way too sometimes.
hope the guys had their way of sharing too =)

we cant reach God's expectation
but rmb the story about the little gal colouring the pooh?
although sometimes we feel that our life's a mess,
we mess too many things up,
but when we repent and say we're sorry,
i believe that God will know and will say to us,
"that's good, at least you know pooh is yellow and red. try colouring within the lines next time"

Those who hope in the Lord

I just happened to be doing my daily bible reading, and today, I was supposed to read from the book of Isaiah, chapter 40.

The thoughts in my mind prior to reading the verses were something along the lines of "Wow. Long weekend is upon us. Finally. We can take a deep breath from the busyness, stress, tiredness of the week." I wonder if you all feel the same?

Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall; (Isa 40:30)

But after reading till verse 31,

but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint. (Isa 40:31)

Our human strength is finite, but here's a secret to how we can soar on wings like eagles (without drinking red bull =p ) or run and not grow weary. Continue to hope in the Lord (in other translations "wait upon the Lord"). Spending time in His presence during your quiet times being silent before Him and obedient to His commands. For in doing so, will you find renewed strength for life's daily challenges.

This is certainly something I need to be practicing more. cheers!

Holy Week Services - Monday

Hi guys,

thought I post something first, before the cobwebs start appearing. Heh.

Last night, I attended the Holy week service and it was kinda interesting. There wasn't a sermon preached and all we did was sing hymns, pray and read through the first 7 chapters together as a congregation (some people took turns reading to the congragation). Our very own Teng Teng read some of the verses.

Anyways, Pastor emphasised a few verses from Luke 4. They were the 3 responses given by Jesus when tempted by Satan in the desert.

'Man does not live on bread alone.' (Luke 4:4)
'Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only' (Luke 4:8)
'Do not put the Lord your God to the test' (Luke 4:12)

For your thoughts and reflection. =) If you are unable to attend the services from Mon to Thur, do read along with the rest of the church as we are gonna finish the entire gospel of Luke by this week.

Day 2: The wise and foolish builders

No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.
Luke 6:43-45

this verse is both like a warning and a guidance for us.
it warns us that God hears what we say (better be careful!)
and teaches us to guard our mouths to guard our hearts.

i kinda like this verse,
i dno why i like such a "austere " verse,
maybe it has a good analogy and sounds poetic so its easy to remember..

The things you say, and how you say them expose and unveil the condition and attitudes of your heart. I doubt most people realize this. If they did, they would be more careful about what they said and how they said it.
Most people think actions reveal the heart. There is even a saying we have all heard: "Actions speak louder than words." I am not necessarily disagreeing with that, but the Bible says that words speak loud enough by themselves. It is out of the overflow of the heart that the mouth speaks. It is the tongue that sets the body on fire. It is not what goes into a man that makes him unclean, but what comes out of him.
Do you want to judge your own character and condition of your heart? Don't look at your behavior. We are experts at seeing only the good actions in our lives, and overlooking or excusing the bad. If you want to judge your own character, listen to what you say.

A gentle answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.
